I'm sorry if this has been answered but I can't find the thread - I want to remove the "Written on July 12th, 2012 by
Categories: Uncategorized" from a post and I don't know how to do it.

With Pages there's no problem, it's just on posts

This is the Avalon theme which I LOVE!

Glad you're enjoying the theme. To remove the "Written on" text, you'll need to remove it from the template files. In order to find which template(s) to edit, you might want to reference the WordPress template hierarchy map. You'll most likely want to edit home.php, category.php, and single.php (e.g; Appearance → Editor → single.php)

The code you want to remove is:

<?php _e ('Written on', 'smpl') ?> <?php the_time('F jS, Y') ?> <?php _e ('by', 'smpl') ?> <?php the_author_posts_link(); ?><br />

Casey, I have been trying to follow along with the above directions on how to remove the "Written By & Date" from my blog posts. I am using Synapse. I just migrated my Presstige site over to Synapse. Pressitge didn't add the date and author automatically.

I follow along with "Appearance >>> Editor. But cannot find where Single.php is.

Thanks for the help.

Casey,
I found this on the web. It seemed to work.

The Automatic Method

If you’re looking for a quick fix, just go to “Appearance > Editor” in your WordPress admin and add this code to the top of your theme’s functions.php file:

function jl_remove_post_dates() {
add_filter('the_date', '__return_false');
add_filter('the_time', '__return_false');
add_filter('the_modified_date', '__return_false');
} add_action('loop_start', 'jl_remove_post_dates');

(Note: This method requires WordPress 3.0 or above)
