Onyx has a subtle background image. You can change it in the CSS from Appearance → Editor &style;{x}.css (X = depending on which style you have set as default. e.g; style5)

At the top, find:

body {
 color: #4d4d4d;
 background: #dedede url(./images/style5/page_bg.png) repeat 0 top;
}

and change to:

body {
 color: #4d4d4d;
 background: white;
}

You'll then notice the menu and top container also have background images. You'll probably want to upload and replace those images via FTP. The Photoshop and Fireworks source files are included if you think that would be easier to just re-export the images/slices.

If you can post a link to what you have, I may be able to be of more help.
