Just downloaded Onyx WordPress Theme and tried to install the theme directly from
Wordpress admin using the upload option under Install Themes Tab.

The install fails with the following error message:

Installing Theme from uploaded file: Onyx_WP_Unzip.zip

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

Please advise ...

Hi, You need to unzip the file prior to uploading (hence the file name).

Hi Thanks for you response. Yes, I realized that the downloaded package need to be uncompressed first.

Wordpress is showing the following errors after installing the theme:

Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.0! Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead. in /mnt/disk2/home/www/www.site.com/2/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2923

Notice: Undefined variable: colstyle in /mnt/disk2/home/www/www.site.com/2/wp-content/themes/onyx/page.php on line 13

Notice: Undefined variable: colorder in /mnt/disk2/home/www/www.site.com/2/wp-content/themes/onyx/page.php on line 29

I’m running the latest WordPress 3.5.1. running Ubuntu OS with Apache web server.

I’m still unable to use the theme because of the errors above ...

Hi, It looks like your PHP error reporting is set very high.
What you’re seeing are “Notices” - which are neither Warnings nor Errors.

Thanks Casey,

Yes, define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true); was set in wp-config.php. Thank you for your prompt response.
