Hi,

I’ve searched through the forum and I was unable to find information regarding this.

What is the best way to add social media links and my contact info at the top of the page, just to the left of the search field.

Check out this link to see an example of what I am trying to do…....

Thank you in advance for your help.

p.s. - I love this Lightfast theme!

Hi, This is possible, but it’s obviously not part of the core theme package.

To add a top bar like you’re referencing, just add the following function to your child theme’s functions.php and style.css files:

Screenshot of the modification is here:

Note: You’ll need to have updated to Lightfast 1.0.7 first or this will not appear above the header.

Hi Casey,

Thank you so much however, as can be seen from the attached screenshot of my site, the Social media & contact info is not appearing above the header. Looks like it is not recognizing the styling? I upgraded to the new version of Lightfast as you stated.

Here is a copy of my child theme functions.php file which I simply copied from your response…..

Thanks in advance for your help. That’s why I use Simple Themes!

Hi Joseph,

Can you post your source code to pastebin.com or hastebin.com and share the link from there? The code formatting security on my forum prevents me from being able to see PHP/JS in the way I need.

Hi Casey,

I’ve been doing this long enough to know better and sure enough, it’s a browser issue; in particular Firefox! It works fine in all the other browsers!

I’m going to search for a fix for this but in the meantime I would appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Further, Chrome has scrolling issues and the only browser that works 100%  (including displaying my Footer text) is Safari.

Here is the URL for my site….

Regards and thanks so much!

Hi Joe,

What exactly do you mean by scrolling issues? Can you elaborate?

On the URL above, I see the parallax header isn’t able to complete the transition because there’s no content on the page.

Thanks Casey,

You most likely have solved the problem so I’ll add some content via Layout Builder and see what happens.

Further, I’ll search through the online documentation regarding my browser issues.

Great theme and GREAT service!

I have hand-coded every site I have ever made but I am starting to get this Wordpress thing figured out… thanks to your help.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Hi Casey,

I figured out my Firefox browser problem (in case you are interested). I was using both the ‘enqueue’ method in functions.php and I was using @import in my style.css at the same time. I deleted @import in my child theme style.css and Firefox worked fine!

Thank you again for everything! Through the years I have purchased a number of Wordpress themes only to become frustrated with the support, so I abandoned the theme and hand-coded the site instead.

Thanks to the wonderful support from you I feel that I will be able to complete this project with Wordpress and all my theme purchases in the future will be from Simple Themes. Further, after years of coding ‘divs’ etc, I am starting to appreciate the beauty of the Layout Builder. So, I am going to build the site using the Wordpress menu system and I am going to customize the final result with my child-theme.

All the best,

Joe Albanese
